In my country 16 GB is rare, So planning to buy 8GB and I heard when the memory card storage is increased the phone speed might get slowdown. Is this true?

you can use up to 16GB memory card.

Yes you can. but without a car holder, it would be very difficult to view the turn by turn navigation. Strongly recommended.
